North West women into higher level sports coaching (WiHLSC)

The Sport and Active Leisure Skills Alliance (SALSPA) initiated funding of £350,000 for the Women into Higher Level Sports Coaching project. ESF funding is now available to support individuals in achieving their level 2 or level 3 sports coach accreditation.

Participants must already have their level 1 NGB sports coaching certificate, or be returning to coaching, and currently be living within the North West*.

The project will specifically focus on supporting women from the following sports: football, rugby league, rugby union, cycling, tennis, cricket, netball, athletics and swimming.

Whilst this project aims to benefit individual development, employers can benefit enormously from this initiative, specifically in capacity-building female coaches in UK sports and adding value to their workforce. Women who are interested in participating, and are committed to achieving their qualification, can apply using the attached WiHLSC application form. When completed, please send the form to:

  • Leigh O’Regan,
Project Manager, WiHLSC,Greater Manchester Sports Partnership,
    Belle Vue Leisure Centre,
    Pink Bank Lane,
    Longsight,
    Manchester
    M12 5GL.

* Excluding Merseyside region, but does include Halton. We hope to support women from Merseyside in future projects.
