Occupational Descriptors

SkillsActive has worked with employers to define the core competencies associated with key roles within the health and fitness industry. This has led to industry agreed Occupational Descriptors (Job Descriptions) that detail these competencies in a simple and understandable way. The descriptors are not prescriptive, but they do reflect the core of what is required for each role, and in some cases a clear indication of what a person working in a particular role should or should not be engaged in.

Employers will find these documents useful when considering writing their own job descriptions, recruitment materials and developing training plans. Individuals will benefit from knowing the central functions of each role, allowing them to either consider these jobs as a career option in a meaningful way, or use as a reference point if already a professional already within the industry.
