| Vocationally Related Qualifications |
A
wide range of vocational qualifications
(VRQs) are accredited onto the national
qualifications framework (NQF) in England.
These cover almost every industry sector,
and every level of the NQF. VRQs are
offered by a large number of awarding
bodies and often range from broad subject
areas to specialist qualifications designed
for a particular sector. In many cases,
suites of qualifications are available,
offering progression through the various
levels of the NQF. VRQs serve a range
of purposes in different sectors and
at different levels, and consequently
vary in terms of size, level and assessments.
In the active leisure and learning sector
it is often these VRQs which are most
valued by employers – examples
include National Governing Body coaching
and officiating qualifications, many
fitness related qualifications which
offer entrance onto the Register of
Exercise Professionals, and most Awarding
Bodies also offer VRQs as part of their
suite of qualifications.
