The
Northern Ireland Steering Group is made
up of employers and stakeholders from
Sport and Recreation, Health and Fitness,
Playwork, The Outdoors and Caravan Industries.
This employer-led group gives responsibility
to employers to provide leadership for
strategic action to meet their skills
needs. SkillsActive’s work in
Northern Ireland is partly funded by
the Sport Council Northern Ireland’s
‘Investing in Sport’ programme.
SkillsActive works to raise the profile
of the active leisure and learning sector
and responds to key Government consultations
including; the Northern Ireland Physical
Activity Strategy consultation; the
Northern Ireland Draft Priorities and
Budget 2005-2008; the Obesity Taskforce
Questionnaire; and the Northern Ireland
Skills Strategy. Thus we are taking
account of Northern Ireland’s
distinctive constitutional position,
economic development and training systems.
