SkillsActive
works with the Institute of Leisure
and Amenity Management (ILAM) in Scotland
and the National Association of Sports
Development to hold a conference each
year for sports development officers.
SkillsActive is the endorsement agency
for the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC).
The UKCC will build on good practice
that already exists within governing
bodies of sport’s coaching structures
and will ensure the equivalence of each
level of coaching qualifications across
all sports.
‘Lets Make Scotland More Active’,
Scotland’s physical activity strategy,
aims to encourage inactive people to
become more active. With a panel of
employers and others experts, SkillsActive
is creating guidelines that will form
new training courses and qualifications
for the health and fitness workforce
to enable then to help meet this priority.
SkillsActive runs a Playwork Sector
Group in Scotland which meets quarterly
and has representation from the voluntary,
public and private sectors as well as
national representation from the Scottish
Out of School Care Network, Play Scotland,
the Scottish Qualifications Authority,
the Scottish Social Services Council
and other interested stakeholders. The
Playwork Sector Group discusses and
makes recommendations on National Occupational
Standards, training and development,
Scottish Vocational Qualification, Modern
Apprenticeships and industry issues
SkillsActive is working with the Scottish
Adventure Activities Forum to consider
the workforce issues affecting outdoor
organizations. SkillsActive also works
with CITO, the British Homes and Holiday
Parks Association and employers to promote
and improve training and qualifications
in the caravan industry.
