Leisure and Learning sector provide
people with skills and knowledge
that are highly demanded by employers
across any number of sectors.
For example, essential skills
including communication, team
working and customer service that
might be gained through roles
in sport or fitness centres, are
increasingly demanded in other
sales and service related industries.
The very nature of the work in
the sector ensures that successful
employees and those who are selected
for career promotions, are those
with passion and enthusiasm, who
exhibit a desire to further their
careers through continuous professional
development and high levels of
motivation. SkillsActive works
very closely with the other Sector
Skills Councils to identify transferable
skills and experience which is
valued across other sectors. There
are many generic skills which
can be developed through working
in active leisure environments
such as communication, team working
and customer service, which would
be placed in high demand by employers
in sectors such as tourism, the
media and retail.
