Part of the role of SkillsActive is to draw together the expertise of training providers and the needs of employers to match the expectations of individuals.
To help ensure the services it offers meet the requirements of each of these groups SkillsActive consults with different Expert Groups made up of specialist representatives from training providers, employers and individuals.
Sport and Fitness Employers Group (UK)
The Sport and Fitness Employers Group (SAFE) advises on strategic issues relating to the technical development of standards, qualification strategies, work force development and labour market research.
National Partners Forum (England)
The NPF represents strategic partners across the whole sport sector and helps to direct and focus the work of SkillsActive to ensure it meets the needs of the sector and its employers.
Fitness Technical Expert Group
Fitness TEG is a broadly representative group of experts from the exercise and fitness sector with recognised technical skills, expertise, knowledge and industry experience. TEG advises on the technical issues that underpin standards, training and qualifications in the is area.
Endorsement Panel – Fitness
Members of the panel (sector representatives from employers, training providers, higher education industry representative) have worked over the last few years to develop a Continued Professional Development system for the exercise and fitness sector which improves the quality of training and raises standards.
The panel advises SkillsActive on the technical content of submissions and plays a role in quality assuring the delivery of training, which is then ultimately recognised by Register of Exercise Professionals and employers.
Endorsement Panel – Playwork
This panel, which includes employers, training providers, Higher Education, and industry experts, advises SkillsActive on the technical content of submissions and plays a role in quality assuring the delivery of training, which is then ultimately recognised by employers in the sector. Members of the panel have worked over the last few years to develop a CPD system for the Playwork sector which improves the quality of training and raises standards.
Level 4 Specialist Medical Exercise Panel (Fitness)
The aims of this panel is to review policy, set standards and look to advise SkillsActive on new National Occupational Standards that look to support the needs of both the medical and fitness sectors.
It also comments on the technical content of submissions and plays a role in the quality assuring the delivery of recognised training.
Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee
Made up from representatives from stakeholders from the UK adventure activities sector the AAIAC aims to identify and promote good practise, and to advise government and its agencies accordingly.
Outdoor Employers' Group
SkillsActive’s OEG ensures a co-ordinated view on issues particular to the outdoors part of the sector and helps to lead and direct issues such as workforce development, labour market research and training frameworks.
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Play (APPG)
The APPG on play considers topics relating to children’s play and takes political action on current issues affecting children’s right to play freely.
The Playwork Education and Training Council – UK
PETC was set up as a forum for the sector to discuss issues of strategic importance on all aspects of playwork, education, training and qualifications.
