MEMBERSHIP ENQUIRIES

Q: What are the different types of membership?

A: We give a full break down of the membership types on the website, however the two main grades of membership are: -

  • full member for employers in the sector
  • affiliate member for training providers and education bodies

Q: Can individuals apply for membership?

A: No, membership is only organisational, although each member can sign up individual contacts to receive information. Individuals can still benefit from working with SkillsActive through a number or areas such as training and qualifications, careers and events.

Sign up your organisation for full or affiliate membership

Q: My business employs people in the sector and offers training. What type of membership should I apply for?

A: What is the primary focus of your business? Training or employing? If the focus is split equally, as you are an employer we recommend applying to become a full member.

Q: How do I apply for membership on behalf of my organisation?

A: There are two ways to apply for membership. You can either apply online or download a PDF application. Click here to join

Q: What do you mean by site?

A: A site is a department or physical location of your business (which may be in more than one place, in which case you have more than one site). For example, if your business is a caravan park and you have 4 four parks in the UK, you will need to pay for 4 four sites.

If your organisation is a local authority, you may take out membership for the sites related to your sector or the entire council.

Q: If one department or site of an organisation joins, does that make the entire organisation a member?

A: No, if only one site joins, only that site is the member. You must join all your sites to have full membership for the business. For example, if a delegate employed by the Early Years Unit of a council came to a playwork event and membership was included in the delegate fee you would only have membership for the Early Years Unit.

Q: How do I know when the subscrition is due to be renewed?

A: We will let you know by email or post when your membership is due for renewal. Alternatively the primary contact for your organisation can log-on to the member zone to view the renewal date and renew online.

Q: My organisation is a member but I do not have a log-in. How can I get one?

A: Either ask your primary contact to log- on to the member section of the website and add you as a contact or email membership@skillsactive.com, with the name of your company, your full name, job title and preferred email address.

Q: How can I find out if my organisation is a member?

A: Please email membership@skillsactive.com with the name of your organisation and the address of your site or department your work for.

Q: My organisation has just joined the Fitness Industry Association (FIA). Are we now a member of SkillsActive?

A: All current members of the FIA become full members of SkillsActive and receive the full benefits package. As soon as your membership expires with the FIA your membership with SkillsActive will also expire unless you renew through the FIA or with us directly.

Q: Does annual membership run by calendar year or from the date of joining?

A: Membership runs from the date we received your full application and payment for the annual fee. Your membership will not be activated until we have received payment.
