On 16-18 September SkillsActive will be taking part in the SkillsCymru careers event, the biggest careers and skills event in Wales. The event forms part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s commitment to raise skill levels throughout Wales to increase national competiveness and success in business.
The event is free of charge and is targeted at young people and adults and will take place at Wales’ Millennium Stadium. This exciting event will give young people and adults the opportunity to get career inspiration by enabling them to have a go at a wide range of jobs and training opportunities. It will also give attendees the chance to discover the huge range of careers, training schemes, educational options and skills opportunities available to them.
There will be over 100 exhibitors at Skills Cymru, and it is anticipated that around 20.000 visitors will visit the Millennium Stadium over the 3 days. Therefore, the scale of the event will be greater than any careers and skills event held in Wales. The event will include expert seminars insightful master classes, impartial advisors and specific ‘have a go’ areas.
SkillsActive will be hosting an interactive stand at the event which will be used to showcase potential careers across the active leisure, learning and well-being sector.
Here, we will be offering attendees the opportunity to use interactive ‘Career Pods’ which offer clear and comprehensive advice to all those wanting to enter and progress a career within the sector. We will also be showcasing a range of interactive demos, including sports coaching demonstration and basic fitness instruction from a REPs registered fitness instructor.
On the Saturday, attendees will also be given the chance to learn more about playwork and engage with an interactive ‘play space’. This will enable visitors to experience and explore the elements and participate with den building, messy play, sand pit activity and junk modelling.
