Bob Russell MP has tabled an Early Day Motion (Number 2111) in the Westminster Parliament supporting the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) concept.
Early Day Motions are a means by which Members of Parliament can show their support for a topic by signing them. The more that sign, the more influence it will have and the more opportunity there is to lobby in support of a specific aim.
The purpose of this Early Day Motion is to apply pressure on the Government to support the whole concept of LOtC. It has been worded so that the greatest possible support from the wider LOtC community may be received. This particular Early Day Motion has already received cross party support.
To stand a chance of success, substantial MP support is required. Late August / early September is a good time to write to MP’s to lobby for their support as they will / should be returning from their summer breaks.
To assist you, a downloadable Word document template is available. Use this list of MPs to identify who to write to, and play your part in supporting the value of learning in the outdoors!
