sports coach UK - 08/02/10
The prestigious event takes place from the 29-30 June (please note the change in date – this allows for Government involvement in light of the expected General Election.)
Co-hosted by sports coach UK and the Sports Council for Wales, the Summit is aimed at decision makers and those who are responsible for education and management of sports coaches.
As a key event in the coaching calendar, the Summit provides key stakeholders with the opportunity to review progress in coaching and coach development over the past 12 months, share best practice, reaffirm objectives and commitments, and to network with colleagues from other organisations.
It will also enable CEOs and other decision makers in coaching to inform their planning and funding decisions for 2011-12. This year, organisers hope to attract more decision makers from Local Authorities as well as governing bodies of sport.
In addition to sessions that focus solely on coaching, there will be seminars from contributors working outside the sports coaching sphere, allowing delegates to consider how, and what, sports coaching can learn from other sectors. The planned social programme will capitalise on the Summit’s location, with strong cultural and heritage links.
Sarah Powell from the Sports Council for Wales said: “Coaching is central to the success which Wales has enjoyed on the international stage to date. That’s why coaching is a significant priority for the Sports Council and we are delighted to welcome our sporting colleagues to Wales.”
Further details, including a draft programme, the Summit venue, the accompanying social programme, and accommodation options will be made available shortly on the sports coach UK website and Sports Council for Wales website.
