New stats prove value of Apprenticeships

National Apprenticeship Service - 04/02/10

The research marks National Apprenticeship Week, a jam-packed week of activities celebrating the role played by apprentices across the country.

Events taking place during the week include Ian Austin MP visiting the Birmingham Hippodrome to help apprentices prepare the venue for the auditions for Britain’s Got Talent, while apprentices in Haringey, London, makeover houses for local authority tenants.

Almost 240,000 people started an Apprenticeship last year, that’s a rise of almost 7%. They’re a great way for young people to get on-the-job experience as well as a nationally recognised qualification while the value for money and enthusiasm that apprentices bring to the workplace is second to none.

With the brand new Apprenticeship Grant for Employers (AGE) offering small and medium sized businesses up to £2,500 for every 16 or 17 year old apprentice hired, there has never been a better time to find out how you can benefit from Apprenticeships.
