Apprenticeship funding is available from the Skills Funding Agency in England and Wales, Skills Development Scotland in Scotland, and the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland.
However, the size of the contribution varies depending on your sector and the age of the apprentice.
SkillsActive can help employers in England reduce costs and train more people by identifying which of your staff could be eligible for funded training. Our Funding Eligibility Service is a simple, effective way to improve your business performance by making the most of available funding.

Apprenticeships aren’t just for big businesses - small to medium sized businesses in England can afford to train Apprenticeships through SkillsActive’s Group Training Association (GTA).
The Group Training Association enables employers in England running small to medium enterprises to take on more new staff as apprentices. It does this by creating partnerships between employers so they can access funding and discounts normally only available to bigger companies.

The Funding Eligibility Service is provided to members of the Skills Academy for free.* This service involves setting up an online form** specifically for your organisation, to be completed by each employee. We will work with your organisation to determine how you wish to receive feedback from this analysis and provide support with developing a training plan.
Step 1: Register your interest in the Funding Eligibility Service
Register your interest here and a member of the Business Development Team will contact you to discuss how the Academy can help you maximise your funding. We will discuss the necessary preparations to effectively deliver this service to you and agree realistic timeframes for completion.
Step 2: Access the Funding Eligibility form
Your organisation will be sent a link to your online form, along with instructions for completion.
Step 3: Send out to your organisation or franchise's employees
Your organisation will need to send the online form to the employees you wish to survey. They simply complete all details to accurately reflect their existing qualifications and those they are currently undertaking. The form should take no more than a couple of minutes to complete.
Step 4: Form submission
The individual simply clicks to submit the form online, which will automatically record the information with the Skills Academy. All details are maintained confidentially.
Step 5: Analysis
Once the agreed time frame has concluded, we will complete a detailed analysis of the forms returned by respondents from your organisation.
Step 6: Progress Report
From this, we will provide a simple overview report highlighting the initial findings. This will include information such as how many forms were completed and the number of employees eligible to receive any funded training. A member of the team will discuss this with your organisation.
Step 7: Training Plan
Once we have reported on the initial findings of our analysis, we will work with you to determine the most appropriate training required. We will provide a detailed personal report for each individual eligible for funding, with solutions explaining eligibility, types of programmes and the training available. We will then work with you to identify the most appropriate training provider to meet your needs. Training will be based on frameworks that are relevant to job roles within sport and active leisure, which will allow us to help you secure sufficient funding for your training.
* Non-members may still apply for this service, but will be asked to become a member of the Skills Academy. Discover more about the benefits of membership for your organisation.
** Where it is not possible to use and online form, we will agree other appropriate methods to gather the data required.
Please note: This is a confidential service and all data collected via the Funding Eligibility Service is treated with the utmost confidentiality. Except in the course of carrying out the service we have agreed upon, we will not pass you details to any thrid parties without your consent.
