Facts and figures
From the Playwork People 3 survey in 2007, research into the region’s play workforce revealed that:
- More than three quarters of respondents said they are very likely or quite likely to be working in the sector in 2009
- The biggest challenges to play provision is funding, staff, premises/equipment, and government policy
- Playwork employers feel that the level of skill needed to do playwork jobs is increasing

Working in the South East region
The south east has a virtual centre staffed by a Regional Development Manager, Hanna Boyce. The centre has produced Play Professionals a training and recruitment DVD; Track Pack a Level 2 Trainers Pack; and we are holding our 7th annual playwork conference, Spirit of Play, on Saturday 14 March 2008 in Chertsey, Surrey - see the report from last year's event here. As well as supporting employers and training providers in the region with resources, information and events, we are working with Re:Play, the play association for the south east, in setting up a regional infrastructure for play.
