Details of SkillsActive's involvement with Playwork in the South East

The funding for free Level 3 qualifications in playwork is still available! SkillsActive is working with CWDC to deliver 4,000 playworkers qualified to Level 3 by 2010, so if you would like to take the Level 3 NVQ in Playwork or the Award from Early Years to Playwork, fill out an application form and send it back to us as soon as possible.
Following the news from Ofsted that the Playwork Induction Standard is no longer accepted as an adequate briefing for temporary staff working on holiday playschemes, SkillsActive has produced briefing guidelines on how to tackle the issue of training temporary staff for seasonal employment. From the Playwork People 3 survey in 2007, research into the region’s play workforce revealed that:

More than three quarters of respondents said they are very likely or quite likely to be working in the sector in 2009
The biggest challenges to play provision is funding, staff, premises/equipment, and government policy
Playwork employers feel that the level of skill needed to do playwork jobs is increasing
