The bursary, awarded annually is worth up to £2,000 and may be used by the selected individuals to undertake studies, training or an alternative work experience outside their day-to-day job.
The bursary offers applicants the opportunity to tailor their own experience in a way that will be most beneficial to their career/voluntary activity and we look for intuitive ideas that demonstrate the motivation and drive of applicants.
SkillsActive is delighted to once again offer the bursary on behalf of the Nancy Ovens Trust, to help a coach or leader working with young people in the sector to enhance their own skills and knowledge by taking part in studies, work experience or activities outside of their day-to-day job.
Applications for the bursary are now closed, if you haven't heard from us by 12/05/10 please assume your application was unsuccessful.
We have run the bursary programme for a number of years and details of some of our previous recipients can be found below.
As a former board member of our predecessor organisation SPRITO, Nancy Ovens MBE was an enthusiastic supporter of education, training and development of skills in the active leisure and learning sector.
The Nancy Ovens Trust was formed by Nancy’s family, friends and colleagues after she sadly passed away as a way of celebrating and recognising all the work she had done to inspire and motivate change for children and young people. Nancy championed the development of work-based skills in the sport and leisure industry and contributed significantly to improvements in services over the years.
