Yorkshire and the Humber Region
The Yorkshire and the Humber regional hub will be established at new facilities developed by Sheffield United FC. The proposal is to create a new purpose built facility in the centre of the site, with a substantial proportion dedicated to learning facilities.
The new regional hub with be supported by a number of centres of excellence in its first year.
Network of Centres of Excellence in Yorkshire and the Humber
- Sheffield United FC new facilities working with national governing bodies of sport, Park Lane College, Dearne Valley College and Doncaster College, all participating in the development of the Academy with provision for coaching, leisure operations and management, and events.
- Leeds Metropolitan University focusing on coaching based at the Headingley Carnegie stadium with state of the art learning technologies and capability to deliver national programmes through its virtual network.
- Learning centres for coaching and fitness at potential exists for an equitable structure across the region that has Bradford, Leeds, Hull, York and Sheffield as the main centres, each with their associated networks of Colleges, sports and leisure structures and community sports networks.
