Regional Operations Group (ROG) London
Following the end of the development stage of the National Skills Academy for Sport and Leisure in London and the appointment of the National Business Development Director, Jamie Wilkinson, the ROG in its current format is to be reconstituted to more adequately reflect the agreed governance structure in the terms of reference.
A revised ROG with a clear focus on strategy for the London region will replace the existing group. The composition of these groups will differ slightly by region but follow the agreed model within the business plan:
-
An independent chair
-
At least 7 employers
-
2 training providers
-
4 stakeholders from;
-
The LSC
-
Sport England
-
The London Development Agency
-
Sports Coach UK
-
SkillsActive
-
CSP/ProActives
This will ensure that employers always have the majority representation and vote on the groups.
Steve Price - Bromley Mytime Chief Executive - has accepted the invitation to continue as Chair and the process of recruiting new members to the NSA ROG (Strategy) for London has now been finalised.
The NSA Regional Operations Group and its members are accountable to the NSA Board in applying the policies, practices and procedures that the NSA Board have agreed. The skills, experience and personal qualities of the NSA Board members will be similar to that of the NSA Board at the generic level, but they are likely to have a better understanding and appreciation of regional and local developments, organisations, networks and contacts to enable the NSA to realise its vision and objectives. The new group will identify the strategic direction of the NSA for London on a formal basis.
Applicants should be able to represent their organisation at a senior strategic level in order that the group can genuinely affect policy and initiate the 'call to action'. An outline of what is expected of successful candidates is provided below:
-
Attendance at a two hour (maximum) meeting on a six weekly basis. Lunch will be provided immediately afterwards to provide a networking opportunity and allow for break out discussions from the main meeting where the need arises.
-
The nomination of a reserve person from your organisation who is able to attend to cover emergency/holiday situation
-
An agreement that should attendance of 3 consecutive meetings be missed, the place on the ROG London (Strategy) is reviewed by the Chair and the NSA. (Please note that attendance by the reserve person will be classed as non-attendance).
-
The ability to represent their organisation at senior strategic level
-
To agree to contribute to the development of regional strategy within the meetings. The new ROG London (Strategy) will not be focused on receiving updates and contributing to discussions but formulating the direction of the initiative in order to meet the objectives of the business plan.
