Consultation on Proposed National Occupational Standards in Sports Massage and Related Services

Following the development of draft units for the National Occupational Standards (NOS) project, to replace the 1999 Sports Therapy Standards, SkillsActive is now ready to consult widely with the industry.

17 units have been drafted altogether under the following headings:

  • Apply massage and soft tissue techniques to prevent and recover from injury
  • Provide exercise to assist recovery from injury
  • Apply taping and strapping
  • Apply magnetic therapies
  • Apply heat and cold
  • Apply electrical stimulation
  • Apply repair stimulators
  • Apply accepted standards and continuously develop own practice

There will be a consultation event at SkillsActive in London on Wednesday 2 July – please see the flyer and booking form for the event for details.

You can also find a list of units for viewing, a zip file containing all 17 draft units, and a consultation questionnaire

It would be greatly appreciated if you could complete the questionnaire which has to be returned to us by 16 July.

The consultation will run until Wednesday 16 July 2008.

Please contact us if you have any queries about the project or the consultation: Krisztina.biliczky@skillsactive.com
