2007 bursary awardee - Scott Nicholls
Scott Nicholls is a full time lecturer in the Sports Department at York College.

Scott helping Andy Rosewell coaching children at Headingley
Scott is 1st team captain at his local cricket club and a keen cricket coach, yet he is restricted in expanding the coaching programme at the college due to tutoring commitments. Scott has been invited to shadow top coaches at the Headingley Cricket Academy, where he will have the opportunity to work with state of the art technology to learn new skills to take back to his club, and perhaps more importantly, use to establish his proposed cricket academy at York College. Scott has agreed with his college principal that he can be released from college to do this if cover pay is available.
He has therefore been awarded £400 (specifically through the Nancy Ovens Trust additional contribution) to pay for cover sessions on a Wednesday afternoon, when sports activities can be provided by a substitute teacher at lower than classroom rates. Scott has already visited Headingly, where the staff are keen to keep him on as long as possible and further investigation into additional funding will hopefully allow Scott to prolong his programme. Already, the English Cricket Board has agreed to part fund Scott’s level 3 coaching qualification.
