Levelling the skills playing field
To compliment the sector focus approach now being developed by Business Link, a team of advisors will be focused on working with employers in the Sport & Active Leisure Industry to offer solutions to skills problems and business issues in the West Midlands. To mark this, an event has been organised by Business Link and SkillsActive for all those working in the sector in order to welcome advisers to the sector and to formally kick off working relations.
Andrew Brown, SkillsActive - 09/07/2008
The event aims to cover ways to tackle employer engagement and the delivery of training to improve the level of skills in the sector, as well as the generic business support available. Improving skills is fundamental to delivering the new Sport England strategy including increased participation in sport. We aim to improve sector take up of both funded and non-funded training through schemes such as the Train to Gain scheme.
One of the outcomes of the event will be to agree a programme of sub-regional employer engagement events from September 2008 onwards. This event presents an excellent opportunity for staff in sport and active leisure and advisers to meet and exchange information, understand respective priorities and forge future working relations.
The event will take place on the 24 July from 9.30 – 13.30, followed by a networking buffet at Business Link West Midlands offices. For more information on the event click here.
