Review of playwork quality assurance systems
The role of SkillsActive in the playwork sector is to lead on the development of Playwork Education and Training for those working with children and young people, and with current reforms around education, training and qualifications we are looking to review current quality assurance systems for the playwork sector.
Andrew Brown, SkillsActive - 06/10/2008
The Playwork Unit has a commitment to peer-led endorsement of training and qualifications, and has successfully maintained a Code of Practice for training providers, a Register of Trainers and processes to endorse training courses and approve products for a number of years. With the advent of the qualifications and credit framework, the sector qualifications strategy and the vocational qualifications reform programme and the Leitch review, an opportunity has been presented to review our quality assurance systems.
As such, SkillsActive is seeking a consultant to review the current playwork quality assurance processes and produce a final report outlining a new overall system to include detailed information about the processes for both submitters and committee panel members, plus the new paperwork for each quality assurance process. It is important that the new Playwork Quality Assurance system fits within the new SSC approval process of reformed vocational qualifications and is marketable and attractive to training providers.
