SkillsActive offers free activepassports for playwork

As a result of a generous donation from the Association of Playworkers (England), SkillsActive is launching a UK wide Bursary scheme and is also offering both qualified playworkers and playwork students who are members of the Community and Youth Workers’ Union (CYWU) the opportunity to have a FREE activepassport for one year subject to criteria.

There are 70 free, one-year activepassports available, on a first come first serve basis, and the Bursary scheme also has 40 free, five-year activepassports to offer the sector across the UK.

The activepassport for playwork is an online tool that delivers fast and easy access to verified records, “it plays an integral role in professionalising the sector,” says Paul Bonel, Playwork Director at SkillsActive, “and is a unique way of confirming a playworker’s identity, qualifications, employment history, and professional achievements as well as planning their career. We see activepassport as the first step in establishing a professional register and a licence to practice for playworkers."

“Since its launch earlier this year, activepassport for playwork has received a fantastic response from both the sector and Ministers,” says Paul, “we’re delighted to have this opportunity and would like to thank the Association of Playworkers (England) for their kind contribution.”
