In this latest article on SkillsActive’s forthcoming conferences, which will focus on ‘Delivering Climbing Higher’ in Wales, we look at two of the speakers that will be addressing delegates in May.

The day will see Welsh Heritage Minister Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM provide a steer on ‘Climbing Higher’, the Welsh Assembly Government’s 20 year sport and physical activity strategy. He will outline the importance of a skilled workforce to ensure success and how this directly relates to sport, fitness and the outdoors.

Mr Thomas is the Plaid Cymru Assembly Member for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and was appointed Minister for Heritage last year. He previously served on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and chaired the Culture Committee. Before entering full time politics he was Chair of CND Cymru and Welsh spokesperson for the Forum of Private Business

Dr Caroline Lloyd (Economic and Social Research Council Centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance, SKOPE) will also be speaking at the event. Caroline joined Cardiff University in 2006 when SKOPE transferred from the University of Warwick.
