Volunteering

There are more than 600,000 paid staff in the active leisure and learning sector in the UK, with 1.9 million volunteers in England contributing at least one hour per week in sport – equivalent to 54,000 full-time jobs while there are an estimated 150,000 adults that volunteer in Scotland.

SkillsActive is committed to helping people working in our sector to have every opportunity to improve their level of skills.

We are committed to the needs of volunteers, and have an active programme of lobbying to support true recognition of the worth of volunteers in society.
