SAPCASkillsActive are currently working in partnership with The Sports and Play Foundation and SAPCA.

What is this initiative all about?

The Sports and Play Foundation is a registered charity created by The Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA), in order to develop and promote education and training for the industry.

The role of SAPCA is to raise standards throughout the industry, in order to provide the high quality facilities needed at all levels of sport, physical activity, recreation and play. Viridian

SkillsActive and Viridian Housing are working in partnership.

What is this initiative all about?

WorkForce Development

SkillsActive are working in partnership with Viridian Housing to design and implement an Apprenticeship scheme that fits with their needs, their customers’ needs, and their social impact aspirations.

Apprenticeships combine practical ‘on the job’ training with study. An Apprentice works alongside experienced staff gaining job-specific skills, undertakes some job specific learning, and at the same time earns a wage. It is a great opportunity for anyone in England over the age of 16 years to get that first step on to the career ladder.

SkillsActive will be meeting with a large number of the Viridian workforce to understand requirements, budgets and aspirations. Once the research has been completed SkillsActive will write a comprehensive Apprenticeship Strategy advising Viridian on how to put an Apprenticeship scheme in to action so that they can begin to take on Apprentices in late 2013, early 2014.

The Government and other employers are currently backing Apprenticeships more than ever, so now is the time to get involved.
