EUROPEAN OBSERVATOIRE OF SPORT AND EMPLOYMENT

The European Observatoire of Sport and Employment (EOSE) was set up in 1994 as part of the European Network for Sport Science Education and Employment.

In 2002, EOSE registered in France as a not for profit association and its network is now composed of regional and national observatoires and members from each country of the European Union.

Stephen Studd is currently president of EOSE, and SkillsActive also provide a secretariat for the organisation.

EOSE works on a number of projects:

All for Sport for All

The All for Sport for All project aims to assess progress and highlight the future direction and perspectives of sport for people with a disability in Europe in the categories participation, workforce, infrastructure and events.

The project has the objective to contribute to better access to a wide network of opportunities in sport for people with a disability by mapping the status quo and then providing a detailed action plan for future challenges and activities and by developing a Strategic Working Group for Sport for Persons with a Disability in Europe.

Lifelong Learning

The one year LLL Sport project funded by the European Commission has been developed to further foster awareness-raising of the common Lifelong Learning Strategy.  This process will contribute to the long term goal of developing occupational standards, which is regarded as crucial in establishing and implementation comprehensive National LLL Strategies within the sector of Sport and Active Leisure.

CLO2

The main aim of the 2 year European project in the Outdoors led by SkillsActive is to bridge the “Competence Framework”, which is being finalised under the EQFOA project, to the skills and learning outcomes; delivered by the training providers in the field.

The objectives of the CLO2 project will be to first establish the importance and level of the competences required by the employers in line with EQF. Secondly, to develop the learning outcomes and match them with the competences required, bringing them together in a Unit and Credit Framework, and finally to set a methodology for accreditation and verification process, together with an organised pilot to test all of the above developments.
