uclanLOGO-roses-300UCLan’s BA (Hons) Sports Coaching programme provides an opportunity for students to develop their academic knowledge, skills and understanding of the coaching process in a range of applied contexts that includes community, grassroots, elite, international and disability sport. The programme is underpinned by ensuring graduates develop generic employability skills through the delivery, assessment and work experience opportunities provided throughout the programme. Students can specialise in specific areas of interest that include match analysis, strength and conditioning, sports psychology and sport and international development. In year 2 students can choose the Sports Coach UK endorsed route; Sports Coaching Practice, which allows students to develop their practical coaching skills by engaging in 150 hours of coaching practice. All students are provided with the opportunity to gain national governing body awards and Sports Coach UK minimum operating standard qualifications.

University of HullThe University of Hull’s BSc Sports Coaching and Performance programme is of particular interest to those wishing to enter applied sports settings, whether it be working with children, adolescents or adults. The course addresses issues such as the pedagogical, psychological and sociological aspects of coaching behaviour, the role of performance analysis in coaching practice, the application of training theory principles to sport, and how coaches can assist with the implementation and attainment of social policy outcomes.
