Find trained staff for free with ActiveGraduates.com

The National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure has launched a free, new job matching website to help employers find talented, work ready candidates for the sport and active leisure industry.

The service (www.activegraduates.com) allows employers to search for new recruits from the ActiveGraduates database, which contains the profiles of hundreds of young people who have successfully completed the Future Jobs Fund programme. The service is free - employers simply need to inform the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure (Skills Academy) when they hire from the site.

Florence Orban, Chief Executive of the Skills Academy, says each ActiveGraduate has undergone quality assured training in areas such as sales and administration, first aid and fitness and coaching. They also have six months, hands-on work experience in the sport and active leisure industry, making them an attractive option for employers.

"The young people on this website are competent, qualified and ready to take the next step in their career," she says. "They are passionate about working in the sport and active leisure sector so are perfect for employers looking to find people who will be able to hit the ground running as well as spend their career in the sector."

Employers can browse the secure site for potential employees including:

  • Stacey whose ideal job would be within Sports Development now she has gained a level 2 coaching certificate, an introductory qualification in teaching gymnastics and a first aid award.
  • Adesgun who worked in after school clubs and holiday camps while studying for a level 2 award in leading health related activity sessions, child protection and safeguarding, and paediatric first aid.
  • Christina whose six month placement at a local council has given her the skills and confidence to look for a job as a reception/front of house concierge.

Florence says: “I would urge any employer looking for a new recruit to make ActiveGraduates.com their first port of call and save themselves the cost and hassle of recruitment agencies. The Future Jobs Fund provided these young people with the experience, qualifications and direction they need to kick-start their career - using ActiveGraduates.com, employers can help them continue it.”

The Future Jobs Fund, which comes to an end in September 2011, provided training and six months’ employment to 18–24 year olds who had been out of work for six months and claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance.

The Skills Academy helped get nearly 5,000 young unemployed people back into work, supported by 175 employer partners nationwide.
